Best value and performance

Local authorities in Scotland must demonstrate best value when delivering their services and show continuous improvement.

The Council's Performance Section based within the Council's Policy, Planning and Performance Division is responsible for performance management issues and the Council's best value programme.

Work in this area is closely linked to the Scottish Government's Best Value and Community Planning (BV&CP) audits. Further guidance on performance management issues is produced by Audit Scotland.

There are four strands to delivering best value and improving performance:

  • reporting to the Scottish Government
  • best value
  • planning and delivering services
  • performance management

The following web pages provide more information on each of these strands.
