Ruby's Race 2012
Ruby Young Races and Athletics Event is organised by East Ayrshire Council in partnership with Kilmarnock Harriers. Set in the stunning location of the Dean Castle Country Park, this event is popular with serious athletes as well as fun runners and walkers. Ruby’s Race started when Ruby Young, who was a Kilmarnock Harrier, tragically died from cancer. Every penny raised is donated to the Ayrshire Hospice.
The 2011 event raised over £3,000 for the Ayrshire Hospice. The event this year will take place on Sunday 10 June 2012.
5K ladies and men’s race
This 5K race (3.1 miles) starts in front of the castle and follows a trail around the Country Park and is marshalled by the Kilmarnock Harriers. The Ladies race starts at 11am, and the Men's race starts at 11.30am. Registration is from 9.30am.

5K walk
The walk starts at 10.45am and is a gentle stroll around Dean Castle Country Park. Costs to all walkers are £5 with a donation for children: no entry form is needed and payment is made on the day. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Come and try athletics for free
Coaches from Kilmarnock Harriers AAC and Leisure Development will be there on the day to show you some of the many events on offer within athletics. We'll have bouncy castles on the day so that the whole family can have fun.
Sponsorship
Participating in the race/walk provides an excellent opportunity to raise sponsorship and boost donations to the Ayrshire Hospice, but there is no obligation to obtain sponsorship. Just taking part means your entry fee will be donated.
In addition to fundraising, sponsorship opportunities are available for companies able to provide contributions in the form of cash donation, goods or services.
