Data protection

You do not need to provide any personal data to use our website. If you decide to contact us by email, letter, by filling in a web-form or by other means, we will record this information and use it to help us address your enquiry.

East Ayrshire Council is registered as a Data Controller in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Our registration number is Z6911362 and the details can be viewed on the Information Commissioner’s website.

We will use your personal data only for the purposes covered by our registration. We will not process your personal data for any other purposes unless required to do so by law.

Personal information

We may hold on computer or other filing systems certain personal details for the purpose of responding to you and for statistical evaluation and market research. 

We hold personal data in relation to the following:

  • tenants of Council houses
  • school pupils
  • clients of Social Services
  • council tax payments
  • applications for planning permission and building warrants

We manage all information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and may pass information to any third parties responsible for the services your enquiry relates to.  

Such third party organisations may include our Community Planning partners, contracted service providers, national agencies and relevant funding organisations.

On occasion we may need to share this personal data with other organisations to provide the best service to you. We are registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 to process and share such personal data. We take care to ensure that your personal data is kept safe and secure.

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you by making a subject access request. Such requests must be in writing and require payment of a £10 fee.
