Educational and Social Services

Educational and Social Services unite the two single largest functions of the Council – social work and education, delivering services to people from the very youngest babies and toddlers through to our most senior citizens, whilst also providing cleaning, catering and other services such as community learning and development.

We seek to build on our strong partnerships to secure continuous improvement and provide the best possible services for users, among them some of the most vulnerable people in East Ayrshire.  This commitment is shared by all staff wherever they work and whichever service they deliver.

We are responsible for:

  • 9 secondary schools
  • 43 primary schools
  • 4 special schools
  • 11 nursery schools
  • 5 day nursery/family centres
  • 17 nursery classes within schools

  • 3 adult learning centres
  • 1 adult residential unit
  • 2 resource centres for older people
