Chief officers' salaries
The remuneration of senior employees is set by reference to national arrangements. The Scottish Joint Negotiating Committee (SJNC) for Local Authority Services sets the salaries for the Chief Executives of Scottish local authorities. Circular CO/144 sets the amount of salary for the Chief Executive of East Ayrshire Council for the period 2008 to 2011. The salaries of the Executive Directors and Heads of Service were set in 2003 following an external review. These arrangements were agreed by the Council’s Corporate Governance Committee on 23 September 2003.
East Ayrshire Council does not pay bonuses or performance related pay. Chief Officers are entitled to be reimbursed for business travel and other business related costs in accordance with amounts agreed nationally by the Scottish Joint Negotiating Committee for Local Authorities Services or as approved locally by the Council. Chief Officers are eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
‘Payments for other Business Costs’ includes mileage expenses and the costs associated with attendance at courses and conferences.
A brief summary of the roles and responsibilities of each of the Chief Officers can be found under the further information section.
