Birth, marriage and death
The registration of births, deaths and marriages became compulsory in Scotland on 1 January 1855 following an Act of Parliament.
The senior registrar is responsible for ensuring that all births, deaths and marriages in East Ayrshire are registered.
In addition, staff can provide a genealogical service to people wishing to research their family tree.
