The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is recognised throughout the world and can be used to provide evidence of an individual's computing abilities. ECDL allows an understanding of computer applications and the thoery behind how computers operate, these are provided by theoretical and practical exercises.
The ECDL is broken down into modules shown below and are completed individually and when they have all been passed, the ECDL certificate is awarded, this can be done in any time period within three years.
There are seven modules in ECDL, these are:

Module 2 - Using the Computer and Managing Files
Module 3 - Word Processing
Module 4 - Spreadsheets
Module 5 - Databases
Module 6 - Presentation
Module 7 - Information and Communication
